HUMANS

A folded paper garment designed to heighten awareness of the body and its surroundings. Developed through studies of body movement, the piece focuses on backward arching: it ties at the waist and meets the floor as the wearer bends back.

Arching towards the ground

The waist attachment places the folded structure along the back. The photographs document its relationship to the body through four positions of the backward arch.

Body and fold studies

The original movement study identifies the backward arch. Early mock-ups test different relationships between paper folds and the body.
